Voting for the 2007 District Health Board (DHB) elections closed at midday on Saturday 13 October and results for all 21 DHBs have now been released. To view results for all local and DHB elections visit the website
www.localgovt.co.nz
and click on the 'Vote' logo.
At this stage, 12 Māori candidates have been identified as having being elected to nine DHB boards, which is up from 11 Māori candidates to eight DHB boards in the 2004 elections.
Northland, Counties Manukau, Lakes, Taranaki, Hawke's Bay, Whanganui, Hutt and Otago DHBs all have one elected Māori member and Tairawhiti has three elected Māori members.
The DHB elections were held by postal vote at the same time as local government elections and were conducted using the Single Transferable Vote (STV) system. For more information about how to vote using STV visit the website
www.stv.govt.nz
Final results for the DHB elections are expected to be available from about 22 October 2007 and will be posted on the
Ministry of Health website
(www.moh.govt.nz/dhbelections) as soon as they are available.
The new DHB boards take office on 10 December 2007.
