Ngāti Porou Hauora (Tairawhiti) in partnership with Te Aitanga a Hauiti.

This highly commended project in the Whānau Ora Awards is a pilot being developed by Ngāti Porou Hauora in partnership with Te Aitanga a Hauiti.

Ngāti Porou Hauora has adopted Te Pae Mahutonga as its delivery framework and Te Taura Tieke as its evaluative framework and are using both to develop a simple screening tool for whānau and the whare in which they live.

The screening notes living and sleeping environments, heating, insulation, water supply, number of residents, ages and employment so Ngāti Porou Hauora can better understand the environment in which whānau live. It’s not about judgment. It’s about planning for improved health outcomes with a greater appreciation of intervention and resourcing requirements.
