The Structure of Te Kete Hauora

Key roles within the Māori Health Directorate.

Deputy Director General - Teresa Wall
The DDG maintains overall responsibility for strategic and operational management of Te Kete Hauora, and takes a leadership role within the sector and with Ministers. Leadership of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and direct management of individual Managers ensures coordination and facilitation of directorate-wide responsibilites. The DDG is a member of the Executive Leadership Team of the Ministry, and takes the lead responsibility on the MoH Māori Capacity and Capability Plan (with the HR Manager) and external communications.

Strategic Projects Manager - Natalie Paki Paki (Acting)
The strategic projects team leads Te Kete Hauora participation in strategic projects that impact on Māori health. The aim of the team is to improve advice on Māori health and disability through improved information and analysis. Activities have targeted Māori health improvement through systems and structures in health sector, funding mechanisms and priorities, and, monitoring and research.

Māori Health Policy Manager - Gabrielle Baker
The Māori health policy team is responsible for leading Te Kete Hauora participation in the development, review and improvement of policy to achieve the Government's objectives for Māori health and disability issues. Key areas of responsibility include policy and activity on the issues of reducing health inequalities for Māori, intersectoral issues, legislative changes, quality and safety and Treaty of Waitangi issues. This team has key linkages with the policy and service directorates within the Ministy of Health.

Māori Participation & Directorate Support - Paula Searle (Acting)
The Māori relationship team leads Te Kete Hauora in the development and maintenance of effective relationships with Māori within the health sector. The network of Māori linkages include: MoH Treaty based relationships (established by the HFA), local DHB Treaty health Relationships, Te Matawhanui (DHB Māori Board Members) and Tumu Whakarae (National DHB Māori Managers). This team has a strong knowledge of te ao Māori and is the MoH nominated spokesperson on 'te reo Māori media'.
